Three Dimensional Tanx – Three Dimensional Tanx (2014)

A unique voice in psych; Lancaster’s Three Dimensional Tanx pitch ‘60s swirling keys against garage rock and the Day-Glo end of the punk spectrum. Picture The Saints shooting for the Nuggets crowd. Combine a heady knack for blending energy with melody they have delivered a crisp, taut and exciting album.

The standout track is ‘I Am Go’, 2 minutes of amphetamine frenzy. The album veers from the giddy ‘Canned Beat’ to the woozy ‘Hermaphrodite’s Child’ and presented in the same glorious TV21 Technicolor as the cover art.

A hellacious live act they bring to mind a version of The MC5 bought up on real ale. Front man Spacey whirls like a marionette with the strings cut and drummer Loz appears to be allergic to trousers.

They can pull the crowd into a maelstrom of sound. A rare psych band that understands the importance of kickin’ out the mother-fuckin’ jams.
