‘Worlds’ by Cult Of Dom Keller is such a staggering combination of the the savage and the skillful, it reigns as one of the best psych songs of the 21st century.
It’s a heavy weight champ of the genre; 7 mins of aggro build up, a riff bigger than Russia and attack and release lulls that make you woozy.
The drone intro fades in as if the song has been playing for eternities, giving the impression that it exists without your input. It gruffly tugs along like cruisers in the Battle of the Atlantic. The bass pulls at your stomach, the same sensation as when you go over a hump back bridge.
The riff explodes in wider-than-wide widescreen, then it builds and builds, like an architect without budget restrictions.
The vocals tickle and caress you to keep calm.
But the chorus keeps coming back around to make you lose your mind. Like 16 Vietnams. Pick me up, knock me down.
Past 5 mins everything goes up in flames, as if all times are happening at once. Things stab at you mercilessly. Everything heads skywards like flames.
‘Worlds’ hums with the power of a 1,000 life times.

A fierce totem of raw power, ‘Psychedelic Sun’ by Three Dimensional Tanx takes ‘I Wanna Be Your Dog’ and replaces smack for speed. Nah, goddammit that’s such a disingenuous way to talk about this song. Let’s start again.
This song is everything that garage rock should be. Energy. This is energy fizzing in your blood. Married to which you have an innocence that comes from 3D Tanx’s boyish love of making noise. This brew of innocence and willful abandon must have been how Les Ferdinand and Dennis Wise felt when they wrecked the Blue Peter garden.
The band itself is a big ball of fire, when you see them live you stand before them soaking up the heat. They’re the highest energy band around. Three Dimensional Tanx are the Psychedelic Sun, because without the sun there is nothing. Tanx and Psych Sun are one entity. They give life to the psych universe, so we should venerate them as good psych pagans.
